Tragedy in the North - South Expressway on Sunday Night

The time was nearly 7p.m.,

I left Malacca at around 6.30 p.m. heading back towards KL,

After exiting the Ayer Keroh Toll Plaza, the road was smooth up to the Negeri Sembilan border,

After that, traffic just built up and it turned into a traffic jam,

I was kinda shocked as traffic jam only start towards the Seremban exit known as the Light Zone, this is because from there on the highway is full lit by street lamps.

It was only 35 KM from the Ayer Keroh Toll Plaza, but as i got closer I begin to see what had caused this massive jam.

When the jam started this early, I already knew there was an accident but what I saw was no ordinary accident involving 2 cars.

It was very bad, in fact it was the worse kind of accident I had ever seen in my life.

First, I saw a white overturned van. As i got closer i realised the divider was smashed up and towards the left was on overturned red bus. A bit further away was another bus which was kinda badly damaged.

In between was a black car which had turned 270 degrees.
2\3 of the highway was blocked by the vehicles which were involved in the accident.
Only 1 vehicle by 1 vehicle could move through the gap .

There was a massive jam heading towards the South due to the collision. Thank God, I was heading North or I would have been stuck in a massive traffic jam.

The road was full of plastic debris which indicated this was a high speed collision.
Since like 5 vehicles were involved, I could guess that the minimum death toll would be 10.

The buses would have been surely packed as many would be returning from a short weekend holiday.

There were many people who got out of their vehicles trying to help the unfortunate but it was hopeless as 2 vehicles had overturned.

I unwind my window and I could smell blood in the air. I knew it as i have been to hospitals. I could hear people moaning from the darkness of the overturned vehicles.

Due to the jam, ambulances and fire engines from Seremban were held up, so help was going to take a long time to come.

If it came from Melaka, it would have taken lesser time and besides Melaka is nearer.
With every passing moment, more people would be dying.

I just hope help from Melaka would arrive on time.

Many casualties would be from the overturned bus because I am sure not many would have been wearing their safety belts and would have been thrown around.

Thank God, I did not see any corpses which have been flung out cause I am sure I will never forget it.

When I returned to K.L, I called my dad in Melaka & he notified me that Melaka Hospital was in Code:Yellow & was expected to receive 50 victims from the accident.
Code:Yellow meant all staff on duty as well as low ranking specialist (I guess) must be on duty.

If it was Code:Red then ALL staff must be on duty. I think it would have been Code : Red later.

It was bad, I hope that there will not be many casualties.
May the force be with the victims of this tragedy.

One things for sure, this is definitely going to make the newspapers headline tomorrow.
