Tragedy After Tragedy

I am not a believer in the END OF THE WORLD in 2012.



However, the scale of the number of tragedy taking place around the World is very unexpected, shocking and devastating. It might point to THE END but I still do not believe.

There was a major earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand then Japan was struck.






A 9.0-magnitude earthquake and a subsequent tsunami struck the coast of Japan affecting the region Sendai.

As if that was not enough, a nuclear crisis due to equipment failures and releases of radioactive materials at the Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant took place from March 11.




The Japanese Authorities have been struggling to contain the partial meltdown ever since.

No much info was disclosed to the public. Oh yes, another cover-up attempt I guess to prevent WIDE SPREAD PANIC and stock markets from plunging further.

Governments do not get it I guess, " YOU CANNOT COVER UP NUCLEAR ACCIDENTS " !
The Soviet Union tried to do the same with Chernobyl but no one fell for that crap.

In simple terms trying to cover up a nuclear accident is like trying to tell people you did not S*!t in your pants when in fact you did !







People are going to see stuff and smell stuff ! , so PLEASE do not try to BS.
Honesty is the BEST policy.
People got their rights to know the truth and protect themselves from any dangers that will arise.

I hope they can resolve this problem ASAP, after all it is only a partial meltdown. (I hope)

Whatever it maybe, Japan will recover thanks to their enduring spirit and help from all other countries in the world. We will support you all the way through !

Then Libya in on the verge of its own tragedy.






At 16:00 GMT 19 March 2011, the Coalition Forces launched air and missile strikes on Libya destroying Libyan tanks and buildings.







Wait a go, the US has started another war in the Middle East !
What is their problem, 1st Afghanistan , 2nd Iraq and now Libya ?!
They should have just left it to the Arab League.

Its obvious, somebody wants the Oil to continue flowing and prices to become stable.
Obama said they will not deploy any troops but I don't think so.

That is what they did in Iraq, they 1st carried out air and missile strikes.
That did not work, so that lead to a full scale infantry and armor column invasion.





Gadaffi is not going to give up without a fight.
Innocent people are going to die due to indiscriminate bombings.
It might end up like Iraq, sad but true.

US should mind their own business.
There are going to be more negative implications for the US.
More hatred and yes, maybe terrorist attacks.

They should have coordinated a Black Ops operation with Mossad and the Libyan rebels to get rid of Gadaffi and his top command PERMANENTLY.

The bombings is just going to turn this into a bloody conflict which will last for years.

Reflecting the Past and Present

Mmm....quite some time since I last blogged.

Bogged down by exam and sickness, but I am back !

Many things took place.

Exam results came out for my ACCA exam, thank God and myself I passed the 2 papers.

Following that, was the commencement of internal PROGRESS TEST in college.





ACCA is a 100% external exam but where I am studying in, Sunway TES in Sunway University, there are 3 internal tests ( 2 Progress Test + 1 Mock Exam).

Sunway TES is one of the only ACCA tuition provider in Asia with a Platinum status,
so to maintain it there are these internal tests.






No student really likes it but it keeps you on your toes, always studying so that you can get through the Final Exam. Hence, it is a win-win situation for the college and the students.

Everyone (students & lecturers) give a damn about these internal tests but my P2 lecturer was not one of them.

She said it was the light at the end of the tunnel that matters, not the path to it.
You should focus on acing the real final exam. Do not worry, 99% of the class will fail the internal tests but more than 50% will make it for the final exam.

I could not disagree. We should look at in the long term as it is only the FINAL OUTCOME which matters.

The f@#$ed part is that I fell sick in the week following the freaking test,
so I had only 1 freaking day to study for the damn test.

I don't really enjoy fu@#ing up any paper and for every exam I follow the Spartan Law. NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER for DEATH in the battlefield is the greatest GLORY to achieve.






I held to my principle and sat for the test although unprepared but I did my best.
I could care less about the results because only the Final Exam counts.

That is it with my life.

What happen to the World during that span of time ?

Mass protest, demonstrations and confrontation took place in Libya against Muamar Gadddafi's 42 year rule.







Why wait 40 years, they should have got rid of that corrupt fellow after 30 years.

Due to the Libyan uprising, petrol price reached its highest during this period to $106 per barrel ( if I am not mistaken ).

By the way, Libya is the country in Africa which has the largest oil reserve, so it will not be surprising if Uncle Sam steps in.


Then, a major 7.1 magnitude earthquake took place in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I feel sorry for all those who were involved.






The earthquake was a sign. A sign of The End, maybe.
In the Book of Relavation, it is said when the sixth of the seven seals is broken, a devastating earthquake occurs, causing massive upheaval and terrible devastation—along with unusual astronomical phenomena.

Any unusual astronomical phenomena this year ?

Stuff from article Aliens exist, and we have proof.

That astonishingly awesome claim comes from Dr. Richard B. Hoover, an astrobiologist at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, who says he has found conclusive evidence of alien life — fossils of bacteria found in an extremely rare class of meteorite called CI1 carbonaceous chondrites.

For me, Aliens = unusual astronomical phenomena but hey, who am I to say it is a sign of THE END OF THE DAYS.

In fact, I had enough of the 2012 rubbish. Every time someone says there will be a DOOMSDAY, it does NOT happen.

Hence, it will NOT happen ! Stop the freaking speculation !
If the End of Days is true then just let it take place.
You cannot deny the inevitable, so enjoy every moment you have.

What happen in Malaysia ?

Mmm... 2 by-elections took place. One in the district of Kerdau in the state of Pahang and another in the district of Merlimau in the state of Melaka.





Both were won in a landslide victory by the ruling political party, Barisan Nasional aka the National Front.

The opposition, PAS (Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party) did not get the majority votes thanks to their "brilliant" move of scarring the non-muslim voters by proposing a ban on gambling activities.





Those PAS guys have to practice some tolerance to other religions and rights of other people.

In simple words, they have to chill out, stop protesting against Valentine's Day and other nonsense.

WOW, that is quite an amount of events taken place.

If you have been "gone" for sometime, you could be quite surprised by the events that have taken place while you were "gone".

Ain't it ?

Floods of Change

First Australia was hit by floods. I never quite heard of floods in Australia.

I thought Australia had water shortage problems and droughts.

After Australia was Malaysia.




Floods are a common thing in Malaysia during the monsoon.

However, something was new.

Floods usually take place in November and December but this time late January.

Mostly, only 3 states will face MAJOR floods i.e. Kelantan, Terengganu & Johor.




This time 2 more states were badly affected i.e. Pahang & Melaka.

I was in Melaka during the final week.

Melaka is technically a dry state, it never rains continuously for days &

sometimes rains only once per week.

However in the final week of January, it rained continuously for 4 days.

I got to admit without the Sun, the atmosphere was quite depressing.

You don't feel like going out, no mood to do physically active stuff & so on.

Well, thank God that the floods have subsided by this week here in Malaysia.

Water floods in Malaysia & Australia but a different type of flood in Egypt.

The Flood of People, the Flood of Change.






There is a Malay proverb which goes like this, "Sekali air bah, sekali pantai berubah !"

Translate it to English and it goes like this, "Once there is a flood, the beach will change.

IT means that A change of event , will lead to other changes.

Oh yeah, the Egyptian people are sick of Mubarak and his National Democratic Party government.





After 30 years of corruption and oppression, the people could no longer stand it and resulted in the largest demonstrations seen in Egypt since the 1977 riots.

Ever since Mubarak took over, his government have maintained one-party rule under a continuous state of emergency.

Now that is what I call Power of the People or People Power.

If you watched V for Vendetta, you would have heard this quote :-

"People should not be afraid of their government; governments should be afraid of their people"

That is darn right !

It was People Power that rallied the people of the Philippines against Ferdinand Marcos and his regime which was filled with rampant corruption and political mismanagement by his relatives and cronies.

It was People Power that led to the French Revolution of 1789 which captured the imagination of the world.

It lead to the American Revolution, Russian Revolution and many more.

In Malaysia, on Monday (7 February 2011) the headlines in The Star newspaper was something like this :-

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has warned against any attempt to usurp power in Malaysia, using demonstrations like those in Egypt.

“Don’t think that what is happening there must also happen in Malaysia. We will not allow it to happen here,” he said.

I think it's not up our PM to decide, he says he will not allow it to happen,

but what if THEY ( the People ) want it to happen ?

Once again the guy from V for Vendetta repeated

Shield DOWN ! Storm NEAR !

Our planet, the Earth has 2 layers of "shield"

1) Earth's Magnetic Field

2) Earth's atmosphere.

We can technically see the atmosphere but not Earth's Magnetic Field.

Earth's Magnetic Field is what I am going to talk about & it looks like this.




What is its function ?

It protects the Earth from SOLAR WINDS, a stream of energetic charged particles emanating from the Sun.

Sometimes, the Sun generates a storm due to large explosion in the Sun's atmosphere.
This results in a solar coronal mass ejections which leads to a geomagnetic storm.





What are the harmful effects to us humans & other living creatures ?


1) Intense solar flares release very-high-energy particles that can cause radiation poisoning to humans (and mammals in general) in the same way as low-energy radiation from nuclear blasts.


2) Pigeons and other migratory animals, such as dolphins and whales, have internal biological compasses which rely on the magnetic field, so their navigational system may go haywire due to a geomagnetic storm.

3) Navigation systems such as GPS are affected due solar activity.

4) Satellites are damaged due to hardware failure and quicker orbital decay,
so there goes satellite TV & entertainment. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5) TV gone, at least I got my computer & internet right? Well, they run on electricity. IN an intense solar storm, electrical transmission equipment, especially generators and transformers are damaged as they heat up.

There goes the power supply. In fact, a coronal mass ejection on March 9, 1989 lead to a severe geomagnetic storm struck Earth on March 13, 1989.




What happen ?

a) Extremely intense auroras at the poles. The aurora could be seen as far south as Texas.

b) Some satellites in polar orbits lost control for several hours.

c) The northeastern U.S., the electrical supply was cut off to over 6 million people for 9 hours.

That are the effects of a geomagnetic storm.

Now more bad news.

Research now has found out that the the Earth's magnetic field is WEAKENING !

In fact it is shifting in a phenomenon known as Geomagnetic reversal.

IT has taken place before and WILL happen again.


But for now , here are the facts :-

1) The overall geomagnetic field is becoming weaker; the present strong deterioration corresponds to a 10–15% decline over the last 150 years and has accelerated in the past several years.

2) The Earth's magnetic north pole is drifting from northern Canada towards Siberia with a presently accelerating rate — 10 km per year at the beginning of the 20th century, up to 40 km per year in 2003,and since then has only accelerated.

However, these events often involve an extended decline in field strength followed by a rapid recovery after the new orientation has been established.

Not to worry it is not a permanent thing but the recovery time is UNKNOWN.
Could it be a year, a decade, a century ?

What to do IF IT OCCURS ?

My advice would be:-

1) Try NOT to stay outdoors. Wearing sunscreen or sun lotion only protects you from UV-A not UV-B. In fact, UV-B is more dangerous & penetrates DEEPER causing skin cancer.

2) Prepare to go back into the stone ages. No electricity, no mobile phone,
no computer, no TV & no INTERNET !!!! Prepare for the WORST CASE SCENARIO.


By the way, how do you know when it has begun? The shield is DOWN when you start seeing this in the night sky.

Don't worry there is always an end to everything, even this EVENT !

It will not be end of the WORLD, we will survive like how our ancestors did !

Time

No Time !

The usual excuse for anything.

What is time ?

The famous definition of time is "...is what keeps everything from happening at once"

Well, I don't know what that means !

The basic unit of time is a second.

What is a second ?

A second as been defined to be the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom.

Well, again, I don't get it.

I think that is the problem with time !

IT is too complicated to define & there are many theories about time.

If you think the stuff above was not complicated, get a load at these jargon :-

- Arrow of time( Time appears to have a direction – the past lies behind, fixed and immutable, while the future lies ahead and is not necessarily fixed)
- Chronon (a proposed quantum of time, that is, a discrete and indivisible "unit" of time as part of a theory that proposes that time is not continuous.)

As a layman, this stuff really is COMPLICATED !

But what I do know is that :-

1) When you are doing something fun, exciting & entertaining,
you don't know how much time has passed !

2) When you are doing something boring or waiting for something to
happen, it takes like forever !!!!!!!!!!

3) When you need time the most, it is not there &
when you no need time the most, it is there !

It's just weird !

Some people think time travel is more weird & impossible.

But, I think otherwise ! I rather say, " WHY NOT ?! "

The physics is complicated & extremely theoretical & full of paradoxes.

One paradox I find intriguing and not too complicated is the Grandfather paradox.

What is it ?

Is sounds something like this :-

Suppose a man travelled back in time and killed his biological grandfather before the latter met the traveller's grandmother. As a result, one of the traveller's parents (and by extension the traveller himself) would never have been conceived.

Complicated ?

Let me try breaking it down again :-

You go back in time and kill your grandfather. That means no father and no you !

Does it really exist ?

I personally don't think so.

There is a theory which is known as Parallel universes.

Imagine 2 parallel lines, you are in line 1.

When you go back in time , you are in line 2, so even if you kill your grandpa,
you will still EXIST as you are from line 1 !

This paradox can be seen in the Terminator movie series.

The machines send a terminator back in time to kill John Connor's mother so that
John Connor will not be born.

John Connor still exist in Line 1 aka the future when the machines send a terminator to Line 2.

So, he sends another terminator to protect his mom.

In the movie, the setting is in line 2 aka the present & the action starts !

That is only in movies I guess !

For now, just focus on the task ahead & stop wasting time !!!!!!!!!

In Malaysia recently everything seems to be going up.

Let's see :-

i) Petrol price went up from RM 1.80 to RM 1.90.
Small change of 10 cent ? Whats the big deal ?

ii) Sugar will also cost 20 sen more at RM2.10 per kg.

iii) Evaporated milk will cost 30 cent more.

See the effect of a 10 cent hike in petrol price!

The effect must multiplies itself like a nuclear chain reaction.

Our addiction to OIL will lead to our UNDOING.

WE are so dependent for oil from food production to electricity generation.

Once we run out of it, the effect will be again like a nuclear chain reaction.

Do you know the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ?

You should !

IN my case , I would like to focus on the 3rd Horsemen.

The one who rides the BLACK HORSE.



This is the third horseman of the apocalypse called 'Famine'

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!"

What that means, our one day salary will be enough for our food alone only.

The cost of living will become so high & this will be the consequence !

Enough bad news, let's look at the good news.

SHARE prices are expected to continue their uptrend this week as investors are bullish on rosy outlook for global economic recovery.

1st week of 2011 over !

It was quite fast but not very stressful .

This year will be (I hope so) more relaxing as I am only taking 2 papers for ACCA for now.

I think all ACCA students should just chill & take 2 papers !

You will have more time to live & enjoy life.

Why go through hell while studying & hell again when working !

I never got the idea of the whole RAT RACE !

Let's see the 2 papers I am taking this semester :-

F8- Audit paper. New lecturer which seems to know her job & is focused.
Difficulty : Average. I think I will be able to manage.

P2- One of the HARDEST paper in ACCA. Like duh, it's a PROFESSIONAL level paper !
Lecturer is like an army officer. Class is like a battlefield !
Got to start READING & MEMORIZING the IAS (International Accounting Std)

Health wise, I have started going to the gym this year from Monday to Friday.

I must admit that working out keeps you MORE active & you feel better.

Moral of the Story : PLEASE , exercise especially if you are F_T !
